Roulette Tips & Advice
There are plenty of roulette players who seem to do alright just by betting on their favorite numbers, the birthdays of relatives, or some other array of spots determined by superstition. That's perfectly acceptable for a game that is essentially a tiny version of a lottery, but there are ways to make your bankroll last longer at a roulette table by understanding the odds and avoiding the less favorable bets.

The most important thing to understand about roulette is that the house edge is high compared to other casino table games like blackjack and craps. Much of that is due to the fact that none of the bets pay out at their true odds thanks to the inclusion of those pesky zeroes. The zero and double zero affect every bet on the layout in a small but real way.
For example, a red bet pays out 1:1, meaning it would pay out at its true odds if you expected a red number to hit 50 percent of the time. Because of the zero (and double zero, in the American game) though, red numbers actually come up slightly less than half the time. The house edge is created on the spins that hit those green zeroes, making almost every bet on the layout a loser.
With that in mind, it's always a good idea to play the single zero European game wherever it is offered. Eliminating the double zero brings the bets closer to true odds and lowers the house edge, which is good for you as a player. Then you want to avoid any of the bets that include the zero (unless you are betting the zero straight up), as these have the worst odds of any roulette wager.
When it comes to roulette strategies, many players like to cluster bets over a section of the layout or a certain string of numbers that is close together on the wheel. Because online roulette is controlled by a random number generator that is free of biases, this offers no real advantage in an online game.
One last thing to keep in mind is that table minimums on the inside bets at roulette can be met by combining all of your valid wagers. To make your bankroll last longer, make sure you remember you can spread a bunch of small bets over a group of numbers. This will lead you to smaller wins that come more often, extending your time at the table.
